What does PO film actually stand for?
PO stands for polyolefin. In the greenhouse industry, “PO film” refers to multi-layer co-extruded polyolefin films with a UV stabilizer package — the mainstream long-life covering for vegetable and berry greenhouses.
Is PO film worth the extra cost over PE?
For tunnels producing more than two seasons, usually yes. PO film delivers up to 90% light transmission, a 3–5 year lifespan and long-lasting anti-drip performance, so its cost per season typically matches or beats PE once you include replacement film, labor and downtime.
How long does each film last in a strong-UV region?
Basic PE film typically lasts 1–2 years, and less in desert or high-altitude UV. PO film with a high-UV stabilizer package is rated for 3–5 years; we quote the guarantee against your local UV index.
Can PE film be UV-stabilized to last longer?
Yes — UV-stabilized PE extends life versus basic PE, but it remains a single-additive system. Multi-layer PO puts stabilizers, clarity and anti-drip in dedicated layers, which is why its transmission and anti-drip performance hold up longer, not just its tear strength.
Which film is better for humid climates?
