Film Supplier Checklist for the 140th Canton Fair: 10 Questions That Separate a Factory from a Trading Desk

Ten minutes at a booth can tell you more than three weeks of email — but only if you ask the right questions. Whether you visit our booth or a competitor’s, this checklist covers the ten questions that reveal who actually makes the film: capacity, co-extrusion layers, UV package, thickness tolerance, MOQ, lead time and samples.

Why the First Ten Minutes at the Booth Decide Everything

Most buyers walk the fair, collect business cards, and send emails afterward. The problem: by then, every supplier sounds identical. The booth conversation is your one chance to test whether you are talking to the factory that runs the extrusion lines or to a desk that resells someone else’s film — and the difference shows up months later in tolerance, batch consistency and claim support.

Bring this list, ask the same ten questions at every booth, and compare the answers side by side that evening. Vague answers and precise numbers are very easy to tell apart once you hear them in a row.

Our booths at a glance
  • Phase 1 · October 15–19, 2026 — New Materials & Chemicals, Booth 1.1I36: greenhouse film, mulch film, agricultural film.
  • Phase 2 · October 23–27, 2026 — Houseware, Booth 16.4D32: mattress bags, sofa covers, dust sheets, warning tape, bags on roll.
  • Changeover days are October 20–22 and October 28–30; we do not exhibit in Phase 3.

The 10-Question Checklist

Ask these in order. The first two questions alone will filter out most intermediaries.

#QuestionA factory’s answer sounds likeRed flag
1What is your annual capacity, and how many extrusion lines?Specific numbers: 55,000+ tonnes a year, 5 lines, 72,000 m² plant“Enough for any order” — no figures
2How many layers can you co-extrude?3-layer and 5-layer lines, and can explain what each layer doesCannot describe the film structure
3What UV package do you use, and how is service life tested?Rated lifespan (e.g. 3–5 years for PO film) backed by accelerated aging plus field data“Very long life” with no test basis
4What is your thickness tolerance?A number, e.g. within ±5% of nominal across the webChanges the subject to price
5What widths can you produce?Custom widths to order (greenhouse film up to 12 m), not just stock sizesOnly a fixed price list of widths
6How does the anti-drip treatment work?Anti-drip built into the inner layer, with installation guidanceTreats anti-drip as an afterthought
7What is your MOQ?Clear figure — ours is 1,000 kg per specification, with trial orders possibleNo answer, or a MOQ too low to be a real factory
8What is your lead time?30+ days in normal season, and honest about peak-season queues“Whatever you need”
9How do samples and trial orders work?Free samples, then a small trial order before full volumePaid samples that never arrive
10Can I see test reports or audit the factory?SGS audit and film test reports; factory visits welcomeOnly an in-house certificate with no issuer

Questions 1–2: Capacity and Co-extrusion Layers

Capacity numbers are not bragging — they predict your lead time in peak season. A plant running 55,000+ tonnes a year across 5 lines on a 72,000 m² site can absorb a rush order; a 500-tonne trader cannot. Just as telling is the layers question: a real production team can sketch the structure on paper — outer layer carrying the UV stabilizer package, middle layers for strength, inner layer for anti-drip. If the person across the table cannot explain what is between the layers, they have never stood next to the line.

Question 4: Thickness Tolerance — Ask It the Right Way

Do not ask “do you have 150 mic?” — every booth will say yes. Ask: “If I order film at a nominal 150 mic, what tolerance do you hold across the roll?” Tolerance is where cheap film hides its cost. Film that nominal-runs at 138 mic is 8% less material and measurably less strength and life, even though the invoice says 150. Our range covers 100–200 mic with tolerance stated on the specification sheet, and the thickness you audit is the thickness you get.

Fair question: ask to see the tolerance clause in the sales contract, not just the brochure. A factory confident in its quality control puts tolerance in writing.

Question 3: How a 3–5 Year UV Package Is Actually Tested

A lifespan claim should come with a test story. Two parts matter: accelerated weathering (xenon-arc aging that simulates years of UV in weeks) and real field data from farms in high-UV regions. Ask how the package is adjusted for your market — the stabilizer loading for Northern Europe is not the loading for a desert at 1,500 m altitude. For PO greenhouse film we rate a 3–5 year service life with the stabilizer package matched to your region’s UV index, and we put that rating in the quotation.

Question 9: Samples and Trial Orders in the Right Order

The correct sequence is: take a sample at the fair, run it on one bay or one row, then place a small trial order before committing farm-wide. Any supplier who pushes you straight to a full container is asking you to skip the step that protects you. Our samples are free, and trial orders start from the 1,000 kg MOQ per specification — enough to cover a real block of tunnels and judge the film over a season.

Question 10 — and the Factory Visit After the Fair

Certificates answer document questions; a factory floor answers everything else. If you are already in China for the fair, the plant visit is cheap to add: our works in Henan is reachable from Guangzhou by a short flight, and buyers who visit during the Canton Fair weeks see extrusion, quality control and warehousing in one trip. An SGS-audited factory has nothing to hide on the line — ask to see the QC lab and the thickness gauges.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are your booths at the 140th Canton Fair?

Phase 1 (October 15–19, New Materials & Chemicals): Booth 1.1I36. Phase 2 (October 23–27, Houseware): Booth 16.4D32. We do not exhibit in Phase 3.

Can I visit your factory after the fair?

Yes. Our plant in Henan hosts buyer visits during the fair weeks and year-round — extrusion lines, QC lab and warehouse in one trip. Message us on WhatsApp to arrange dates.

What is your MOQ for greenhouse film?

1,000 kg per specification. Trial quantities within that frame can be discussed for first-time buyers testing a new market.

How long is your lead time?

Typically 30+ days from order confirmation, depending on season and specification. We confirm the exact schedule with the quotation.

Do you provide free samples?

Yes — free samples for qualified buyers, so you can test film on your own tunnels before committing to a production order.

Can you produce custom widths and thicknesses?

Yes. Greenhouse film is produced to order in the 100–200 mic range with custom widths; mulch film is matched to your row spacing. Send dimensions and we quote to spec.

Which certifications do you hold?

Our factory and films are SGS-audited and tested, and we source resin as a strategic partner of ExxonMobil in China. Test reports are available on request.
